A reason to write

I have nothing crafty to share today, rather a conversation and a bit about me. I was sitting at the lunch table with some fun girls yesterday, whom I met a few months back. We all began to talk about our families, and they asked the age old question “do you have a picture of your family?” I began to go for my wallet, when I realized I only had my wristlet. Surely you must have one on your phone!  More or less this is all I came up with…

Yup, Bacterial growth in agar slants. O’ yes these are mommies near and dear pictures stored in my phone. I am not on any social networks (aside from my blog) which really doesn’t count as Social network. So I really had nothing to show them.

Naturally, I thought about this a lot last night. I wondered if people wonder, Who are you? It’s nice to know about people and so with that I will share a little bit of myself with you.

My name is Angela Marie, (aurora is my grandmother who passed on) I am 36 years old and still feel like a kid in many ways. I have always loved the arts. I never thought I was good at it, but I knew something was special when I could appreciate sharp Crayola crayons and a fresh new coloring book at an early age!  Here I am with my brother.IMG_0003

I was mostly raised by my dad and we are like two peas in a pod, except when he’s grouchy. We both have heart conditions, and that is what gives me the burning desire to be a cardiology nurse. Plus I find the human heart absolutely fascinating.

You know what else is fascinating? My daughter, who made me that heart charm above out of polymer clay. We are also like two peas in a pod (except she is way more gorgeous) we are so much a like that we bump heads at times, but never hold a grudge. She is so talented and humbled, I am so proud to be her mama. Here is a picture of myself and Tyla, she’s 14.

Another fascinating person is my lil human version of Wikipedia. His name is Joshua and he is such an interesting lil man child. I say that because I do believe he has an old soul. He is very eclectic, and I can’t explain where he gets it from. He likes thrift shopping, antiquing, bird watching, jig saw puzzles, fishing and his latest interest are in records and vintage record players. The only current thing he likes are video games and even those aren’t too current because he only requests videogames from the 80’s and 90’s! I know it’s pretty different.. But He knows what he likes and I say that is way cool!

Saving the best for last.. This is my best friend Tom. He’s been there for me through thick and thin. We met at a new year’s eve party and were married 9 month’s later. And here we are almost 15 years later, and I love him more today than yesterday. He get’s me, you know. He’s my biggest supporter. He is the kindest person I know. I admire that in him. I can’t say enough about how happy he makes me, and of course everyone has there ups and downs but I am blessed this man was crazy enough to stick it out with me this long,Winking smile

Lovely bride

Hi there. What a beautiful day in sunny CA, I am going to make this quick so I can take the dog out for a walk and enjoy this weather. One of my baby cousins is getting married! I have a HUGE family but it’s been a while since we’ve had a wedding. I am so super excited for her and her future hubby, they make a gorgeous couple too. I decided to get a head start on ideas for her bridal shower card, this is one possibility I came up with, what do you think? SHe loves vintage looks and I tried hard to acheive that with the black and while with lace. I’m also entering this card in challenges: Fussy and fancy - Vintage

Marvelous Magnolia – Bling it on

ABC Challenge – L is for Lace

Thanks for looking and as always thanks for your sweet comments ~ Angela

Sugar sugar oh honey honey..

That is the song that was in my head as I created this card topper. I am not sure if I want it on an easel card or to top a goodie box. I picked up one sheet of DSP from Michael’s and the rest is history. The idea that started this card is the cute Faux lollipop charm hanging off the side. Doesn’t it look delicious? My daughter made it for me out of polymer clay. She made a few of them so I requested to buy a batch from her Winking smile

I would like to enter this creation in some challenges:

Tilda’s Town – Flower’s everywhere

Magnolia-licious – Buttons, bows/ beads. I used buttons

The Shabby Tea room – #161 shabby spring

7 kids – Anything goes

Crafting for all seasons – floral delight

Papertake weekly – Bingo *diagonal Glitter, free, gems

Top Tip Tuesday – use a boy or a girl

Fussy and Fancy – Faux technique (faux lollipop)

Yummy-licious, here is a close up for the charm, don’t you just want to eat it? My daughter is so talented I’m super proud of her abilities.

Thank you for getting this far, I know I get carried away when I share my crafts but I just love being able to do that with like minded peeps even if it’s over the great big blogosphere. Hugs ~ Angela Marie

Randomness

Randomness means different things in various fields. Commonly, it means lack of pattern or predictability in events

My title says it all, I like taking random photos like this one I took at the beach. These birds are fearless, always trying to come up and grab peoples snacks. DSCN1948

Here is a random action packed photo I took of my kids, and George.. That curious little monkey always want to tag along!

And here is a rare, plus random snap shot of my kids hugging it out, I’m so grateful god blessed me with two. There’s never a dull moment.

I live in beach community and agriculture area. we have lots of strawberry fields, It’s great to have an ocean breeze when the strawberries have sprouted. But prior to that it reeks of manure. Eww!! At least there is a pay off, and my family enjoys when I make these

One more bit of Randomness, I had to draw a picture free hand for an art appreciation class. A mural under the tortilla flats bridge in Ventura Ca. caught my eye so I gave it a try. Now, in no way am I saying it’s good, but lol I tried. And I am proud of it cause I had a lot of fun drawing it.

One more random pic, opps I said that on the last one huh? I'm getting carried away here, but this will be the last. Most people who know me are shocked to find out that I am a huge UFC fan. I know it can be bloody and too much for many to handle, but hear me out on this.. It’s a well thought out sport. See these well rounded, finely tuned athletes are trained in many areas of boxing, wresting, sparring and jiu jitsu. There is a lot of thought when they are fighting and it never gets boring. Boxing is way too slow for me, I’m an action packed kind of gal. So here I am with Scott Jorgensen at the Las Vegas UFC Expo last year.

There you have it folks, randomness that makes me smile. I try to live in the moment, and since I have many hobbies and many things that make me happy, I thought I’d share some of that with you. Till next time ~ Angela

Quick Easter Post

This will be a short one, There is a “Ghost Hunting Adventures” show, and the location is at a location I know well, it’s about 20 mins from my home. So excited! It’s Called the Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, Ca. It turns out this place has a lot of paranormal activity. I could have told you that!

Well here it is, I made this center piece for my table to display at Easter, and wanted to share it with you all. I used some twigs I grabbed from the backyard. I added some cute festive colors and maggie’s to help cute up things. I also would like to enter my Easter tree in these challenges:

Magnolia-licious – All about spring

Midweek Magnolia’s – My Favorite Stamp

The Play date CafĂ© – Color

To craft or not…

I mentioned that I may stop crafting, but the reason was not because I ever stopped enjoying it. It was more because I couldn’t enjoy it. I don’t have much spare time, and so when I found time, it was a pain in the butt to try and find everything I needed to get a project done. It’s not just card making that is my passion, I like to try new things too, like staining glass, painting and altered arts, etc.. So as you can imagine I have a lot of stuff. I don’t have a craft room, or dedicated space area for that matter. Coming from a larger home in Arizona, I had that luxury, but here in California our house is considerably smaller. When I mentioned to my husband the possibility of just stopping, and selling everything, he helped me think of a solution that might just work. I bought a big enough cabinet to store everything in, and it’s enclose.. so people won’t see my mess inside. Take a look

3Fd3J53N95Gb5E55M5d2ncea4e0fa97151490

It’s pretty big and the inside is all open too. I bought some storage units (went shopping in the parents bargain basement) to add inside it. This will help me have my things easily accessible, as opposed to in the garage, under this cabinet here, and that closet there. I can’t wait to show you once it’s organized and my stuff is inside. I was thinking of frosting the glass so you can’t see my stuff, but then again it’s a good spot to display my creations! Thanks for checking out my blog today and I hope to be posting something real soon. ~ Angela
